Matchday 19
27 February – 1 March
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Sekhukhune United
Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria
Sunday, 1 March 2026
Kick-off 15:30 CAT
While the keenly anticipated Soweto Derby takes place this weekend, Mamelodi Sundowns will keep a close eye on proceedings at the FNB Stadium as they prepare to take on Sekhukhune United in another tricky league test.
After being dumped out of the Nedbank Cup last weekend, the Brazilians will refocus their attention to Babina Noko in a clash that commences at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday.
Sekhukhune are in a lofty position on the standings heading into their next assignment, sitting third position following 18 after 18 matches, just six away from the log leaders.
Downs recorded four consecutive wins in the Betway Premiership, including a crucial 2-1 victory against Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Amstel Arena on 18 February. Masandawana thus returned to the summit of the log, level on points with second-placed Pirates.
Over in the Soweto Derby, Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates will meet at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Glamour Boys are in fourth position after 16 games, eight points behind their cross-town rivals.
Prior to Pirates defeat against Sundowns, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side went on a three-match winning streak against Magesi, AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants, keeping pace with the reigning league title holders.
At the lower end of the table, relegation-threatened Magesi will take on Polokwane City in the Limpopo Derby at the Seshego Stadium on Friday evening.
With just two wins to their name all season, Magesi are 16th in the league after earning 12 points from 17 matches played. Magesi are on a run of three defeats and two draws in their last five, while Rise & Shine are seventh with three stalemates, one win and one draw in their previous handful.
Elsewhere, Orbit College likewise faces the prospect of relegation as they prepare to battle Richards Bay at Olympia Park Stadium on Saturday night.
Sitting on 14 points after four losses in their last five matches, Orbit College are one point away from the safe zone, while Richards Bay are 10th, hoping to bounce back from their 3-0 loss against Chippa United last time out.
